Aurangjeb’s successor are known as later Mughals . Starting from Bahadur Shah in 1707 , these Later Mughals fought many battles with the afgan rulers and the English East India Company. In the third Battle of Panipat 1761 the Marathas who had risen to heights of their power were defeated by ahmad shah Abdali , an Afgan ruler . In the Battle of Buxar 1764 shah ALam II , the mughal ruler was defeated by the English East India Company . At this time Aurangjeb’s mughal empire was centered around Delhi only . The English East India Company had virtually come to power everywhere, though the Marathas and the Sikhs continued to rule in some parts
